Silvia Villasenor, NCMA

Silvia

  • What do you do at AFWC? I’m one of two certified medical assistants in the clinic.  I assist our providers by taking vitals, assisting with procedures, patient testing and exams, processing medication refills as well as a dozen other “behind the scenes” tasks to keep the clinic running smoothly.
  • What do you love most about your job with AFWC? Our patients – I really enjoy helping them to feel better, care for their health and learning about their lives.
  • AFWC patients would most likely know you because… I’ve been here three years so I’m a familiar face and assist patients with both administrative and clinical issues.
  • What are your personal interests outside of work? I love four wheeling, camping, hanging with family, shopping, sometimes even being lazy!
  • What would AFWC patients be surprised to learn about you? That I enjoy being in the dirt with a powerful four wheeler.

  • What do you do at AFWC? I started out as an office assistant and have transitioned to Medical Assistant as I complete my medical training.
  • What do you love most about your job with AFWC? I love the people I work with – we have a lot of fun working together.
  • AFWC patients would most likely know you because… I work with Silvia and our medical providers, taking vitals, assisting with medication refills, blood draws, etc.   I pitch in wherever I’m needed to help our patients have a positive outcome to their healthcare needs.
  • What are your personal interests outside of work? Outside of work, I like to work out (when I’m not feeling lazy, of course.), watch tv, watch movies and play basketball.  I also enjoy snowboarding, longboarding, hiking and biking.
  • What would AFWC patients be surprised to learn about you? I like dogs, babies and toddlers but I don’t plan on having any anytime soon.

  • What do you do at AFWC? I try very hard to fill Marianne’s big shoes at being a stellar medical receptionist.
  • What do you love most about your job with AFWC? The rest of the staff is extremely helpful and friendly – it’s easy to want to get up and go to work in the morning.
  • AFWC patients would most likely know you because… I’m usually the first person folks see when they come to the clinic as well as being the last face they see when they leave.
  • What are your personal interests outside of work? I love any sport, hiking, fishing, camping and playing with my three dogs.
  • What would AFWC patients be surprised to learn about you? That I have a degree in Backcountry Horsemanship and Wilderness Skills.  I’m also certified by the United States Forestry Department to properly sharpen, handle, maintain and use primitive tools.

  • What do you do at AFWC? I’m a part-time Office Assistant.
  • What do you love most about your job with AFWC? I love my job because of the people I work with.  Everyone works hard but we try to have fun in the office.  Every day, I appreciate that I have a chance to learn something new about the medical field.
  • AFWC patients would most likely know you because… Our patients will notice I work in the back office.  I spend afternoons working on “behind the scenes” tasks – primarily scanning and importing medical documents into patients’ electronic records.
  • What are your personal interests outside of work? I enjoy many outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, walking, jogging, outrigger canoeing, boogie boarding, softball, snowboarding, cross country skiing, etc.  I also enjoy spending time with friends & family – watching movies, short readings, traveling and eating…which is probably why I need to hike, bike, jog, etc.!
  • What would AFWC patients be surprised to learn about you? I’m originally from Hawaii but I love the snow in Alaska.

  • What do you do at AFWC?
I’m the practice manager – I ensure our patients are happy with the medical care we provide, manage the daily operations of the clinic and troubleshoot any problems.
  • What do you love most about your job with AFWC?
I truly enjoy working with our staff and patients alike. It’s not uncommon to see me chatting with a patient, catching up on their life or listening to suggestions or ideas on how we can improve our patients’ health care experience.
  • AFWC patients would most likely know you because…
I’m the one usually running back and forth from my office to the front desk, talking to myself!
  • What are your personal interests outside of work?
Spending time with friends and my 19-year-old American Eskimo, Shelly Hoover, fishing, camping, reading, music, cooking/baking, garage sales, and road trips.  I volunteer with the American Cancer Society, local animal organizations and senior centers.
  • What would AFWC patients be surprised to learn about you?
I’m an avid Ohio State football fan courtesy of my dad and 3 older brothers – Go Buckeyes!
